The Loire à Vélo is one of the most celebrated dedicated cycle routes in Europe. Les Peupliers Loire is within 5km of the Loire à Vélo route allowing you to reach the path quickly and easily from our door. Whether you want to follow the route for a full day towards Saumur or Chinon, explore a circular loop through the vineyards of Parnay and Turquant, or simply ride a leisurely stretch to Montsoreau and L’Abbey de Fontevraud for lunch, the route is as flexible as you want it to be. Some ideas of local routes
1) Château de Brézé
Overview: This is a lovely route along quiet roads and enables you to get used to cycling in France. There are plenty of places of interest including seeing Fontevraud d’Abbey, cycling through vineyards and up to Château de Brézé.
Distance: 37km
2) Cycle through the vineyards
Overview: One of our guided routes goes through the vineyards of Loire. This tour combines periods of cycling along the banks of Loire, of seeing the ‘stone of light’ buildings, and see the vines of Loire.

3) Bourgeuil
Overview: When we’ve cycled through these quiet roads during the summer months, we’re amazed by the sweet smell of the plentiful crops of strawberries.
There are many small, quiet flat roads that you can explore at your leisure as you head towards Bourgueil and if you’d like to go a little further, you can come back via Chouze-sur-Loire.
On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s this is a great route if you’d like to cycle to a local market.
